Welcome New Trojans!

We invite and encourage you to get involved in APASS to learn more about your Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) identity, build community, and think critically about social issues that impact the APIDA community. We are here, as a cultural center, to foster community and encourage you to to be who you are (and want to be!). Our programs, services, and resources center on the APIDA experience, however we are open to all who are interested in learning more!

We’re kicking off our First-year experience programming with a dedicated mixer for you to meet other first-year students! We know that this year hasn’t been the easiest in finding a community or sharing time with new people, so we wanted to help out by creating low-stress mixers. Guided by APASS’s undergraduate staff.

At 6pm, we’ll kindly ask our Fall Admits to leave the Zoom Room so our Spring Admits can get to meet each other, and ask our APASS student staff all about what to expect for your first semester at USC!

PEER – First Year Mentoring

New First year APIDA students (Spring admits) are paired with continuing APIDA students in a mentoring relationship focused on transition, success, and growth. Gain connection, positive role morels, and support to transition smoothly to college life. One of our most popular programs for first-year students!

This program is focused on career exploration and professional development. Participate in resume and cover letter writing workshops, connect with alumni and professionals, and explore how your identity can shape your career journey.

QTAPI – Queer & Trans API Space

Queer & Trans Asian Pacific Islanders (QTAPI) provides a safe space to engage in conversations about the intersection of identities with a specific focus on our API LGBTQ+ community. Conversations are peer led.

TIE – Together In Empowerment Community Internships

What is TIE?

The TIE Internship Program provides college students with an educational learning experience and insight into the Los Angeles APIDA community through participation, empowerment, and advocacy. The program will foster the development and learning of students to become leaders and changemakers in their community. At this time, the TIE Program will be operating 100% virtual or remote.

APIDA Womxn’s Collective

Launching this semester, APASS is hosting a brand-new program for students who identify as APIDA and as a Womxn. This program is gender-inclusive, and focuses on supporting the intersectional identities of APIDA Womxn of all backgrounds. Dialogue with others. Find Community. Foster Empowerment.

ALTERNATIVE VIRTUAL BREAK: HAWAII

Alternative Break: Hawai’i provides student with an intimate, cross-cultural immersion experience on the island of Oahu. Participants explore Native Hawaiian history, culture, and the struggle for sovereignty through dialogue and reflection.

AVB Hawaii features three sessions highlighting Hawaiian Language, Hawaii History and Culture through Music, and a Lei making class. We’ll be raffling off items from each of our sessions.

Participants who attend all three sessions will receive up to a $150 travel credit for a future Alternative Break: Hawaii in-person trip!
